CalVCB may be able to help with out-of-state crimes if the victim was a California resident at the time of the crime.
A resident includes any individual who is working, living, retiring or staying in California for a long period.
Unfortunately, CalVCB only covers individuals when the crime occurred in California or to a California resident. You may be eligible for benefits from the Victim Compensation program where the crime occurred.
For a listing of state compensation programs, visit the National Association of Crime Victim Compensation Boards' website at http://www.nacvcb.org/index.asp?sid=6
